New Year, New You: Habits to Adopt in 2023

Say it with us: 2023 is going to be our year.

The start of a new year is a great time to sit down, reflect, and set some goals and intentions for the upcoming year. Rather than making unrealistic resolutions (and getting discouraged when you can’t commit to them), we’re in favor of using the new year to set our future selves up for success. Here are four habits to adopt in 2023 to make this year your best one yet!

Set Up Subscriptions for Essential Products

Laundry Detergent, Dish Soap, Hand Soap–we love setting up subscriptions for products we use every day. Setting up a regular subscription is a great way to do yourself a favor and make sure you’re always stocked up on the essentials. No more last-minute, emergency runs to the store to pick up a jug of laundry detergent. Setting up a subscription to your favorite Dropps products is the best way to make sure you have the products you need that align with your values–making your life easier and more authentic.

Be Intentional with Your Time

Look, we’re not going to tell you to quit social media (because we certainly aren’t). Enjoy your daily scroll, but try to do it with purpose. Not sure where to start? Take some time to think through your ideal day (and dream big)! You can even write this down, if it helps. What does your perfect day include? What is missing from it? Are there ways you can adjust your daily life and routines to bring you closer to your dream life? These changes don’t have to be radical–in fact, it’s probably better if they aren’t–but may inspire you to reconsider and restructure your routines and habits to be more fulfilling.

Practice Conscious Consumerism

It’s time to reduce, reuse, and recycle in your own home! Take stock of what you already own before going shopping. Can you mend or dye clothing you already own to give it new life? How can you use and repurpose items you already own? Rather than jump to a shopping spree when you need something, join your local Buy Nothing group and see what your neighbors have to offer. Reducing consumption and engaging in a circular economy creates less waste and prevents items from being thrown out and ending up in landfills. Conscious Consumerism can help you save money, protect the environment, and build community. Who knew a simple mindset shift could affect so much?

Cultivate Gratitude

Whether you start a gratitude journal or just regularly take a few moments to think about what you're grateful for, practicing gratitude is a simple way to shift your perspective and adopt a more positive mindset. Studies have shown that practicing gratitude improves both your mental health and physical health. That’s pretty great for a habit that takes just a minute or two a day! If you take time to notice the good things in your life, you may find you discover more and more of them. Now that’s return on investment!
